THANK YOU!

A big thank you to everyone who voted for me in the WNEP-TV Favorite DJ Poll.
I won!! Hard to believe! How cool! They've invited me to appear in the backyard with Joe Snedeker on Newswatch 16 This Morning. I'll let you know when that's going to be. I can't wait!
Thanks to Andy Palumbo and everyone at WNEP for the opportunity.

OCEAN CITY

We had a great weekend getaway to Ocean City, Maryland last weekend.
It was beautiful on Saturday...sunny and 80. We walked the boardwalk, had lunch outside on the deck at Shenanigans, and played lots of games in the arcade.
We got to see my nieces Megan and Michelle, and my sister Sue and her husband Gerry.
Valerie had a blast having a sleepover with her cousins and their dog Jake and cat Meowzie.
Man, was it crowded!!! My sister said it was like middle-of-summer traffic. It took almost an hour to get over the bridge into Ocean City on Saturday afternoon. And leaving on Sunday was bumper-to-bumper. Just a word to the wise....if you're going to the shore this summer, it looks like you will not be alone!!

GOT IT!!!!!

Finally! One of my lifelong dreams has come true! I caught a foul ball at a baseball game!!
I know it sounds stupid, but I've always wanted to catch one, and last night, I did!
I was at the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees game with my friend Mike. We were sitting right behind the first-base dugout. I brought my glove just in case. A foul ball went over our heads and into the upper level. Well, I knew it was gonna come back down. It bounced off the seats, and came flying down toward us. I lunged over the row of seats, and BAM! A nice back-handed stab! I got it!! The crowd went wild! I turned around, held up the ball and bowed and blew kisses. I had waited for that moment my whole life. It was awesome. Thank God I didn't drop it!!
There you go...one more thing I can cross off my bucket list.

Quantum of Solace

I saw the latest James Bond movie over the weekend. Action-packed! I like Daniel Craig as Bond..really intense. The chase scenes in this movie are incredible....in boats, in cars, in airplanes, on foot...I have no idea how they film that stuff without killing someone! I have no idea what the plot was, but it was quite a thrill ride.

DECADES OF DJs

Thanks to Andy Palumbo and the folks at WNEP for the nice feature they did on me on Thursday. It was great to see Andy again. He worked at our sister station WARM years ago.
They did a real nice story on me since I've been waking you up for such a long time...I started at Magic 93 back in 1988.
They're also doing a Favorite DJ Poll on their website if you'd like to vote. www.wnep.com

FROST/NIXON

I finally saw Frost/Nixon the other day. I was really into the whole Watergate scandal when I was a kid. I was 13 in 1972, so it was a big part of that summer. The movie was terrific. Great acting. Frank Langella as Nixon was stupendous, and Michael Sheen as David Frost was so good, I forgot I was watching an actor. I'm not sure how much of the small details are true...like the comments Nixon made to Frost before the tapings, the late-night phone call, etc, but all in all, a really worthwhile film. Check it out.

DANNY GANS

We lost a truly great entertainer over the weekend. Danny Gans, who was named Entertainer of the Year in Las Vegas 11 times, passed away unexpectedly at the age of 52.
You may have never heard of him, but Gans was the real deal on stage. A great impressionist, comic, singer, dancer...he did it all. Erin and I saw his show on our honeymoon, and we loved it! He was in great shape, loved to work out, was a healthy eater, and supposedly led a clean life. He loved performing in Vegas, because it meant he didn't have to travel all over the country, and he could stay home with his family. It was his dream come true. His love of life, family, God and entertaining really came across when he was on stage. He will be missed.
Danny Gans is survived by his wife and 3 children.
